Job Summary
Direct Support Staff provides health and safety supervision and a wide range of daily living and care activities in a group home setting. Primary duties include adhering to safety procedures, evacuating drills, accompanying individuals to medical appointments, monitoring seizures and restraints, ensuring hygiene and grooming, assisting with meal preparation and nutrition, delivering continuous Active Treatment through goal-related training and daily living skills, protecting individuals' rights and privacy, providing safe transportation, maintaining home operations, and coordinating with the Home Supervisor on supplies and maintenance. Requires CPR/First Aid training, ability to read and follow instructions, and flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and overnights.
Required Qualifications
- GED or High School Diploma or ABLE test (provided on site)
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must have valid Texas Driver's License
- Must be able to lift at least 50lbs
- Must have a good driving record
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening
- Must have the ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions
- Must be dependable, punctual, and maintain a regular work schedule
- Must be able to work hours other than those regularly scheduled and in other Advo Companies Inc., group homes and be open to overtime
- One-year experience in human delivery services preferred
- Must be able to complete training, both academic and physical, i.e.: CPR, First Aid, and Prevention Management of Aggressive Behavior
- Must have a wristwatch with a second hand
