Job Summary
Direct Support Specialist responsibilities include teaching, modeling, and coaching activities of daily living (ADL), psychoeducation on recovery, planning and facilitating community-based activities, coordinating access to community resources, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment through de-escalation and behavior management, serving as an ambassador for clients and SCS, collaborating with community systems, providing transportation, assisting with personal care as needed, administering First Aid/CPR as needed, supervising self-administered medication per program protocols, and fulfilling essential duties at Seven Counties’ facilities in Louisville, KY. Requires a high school diploma or GED, 0–1 year of relevant experience, effective communication with diverse individuals, strong teaching and interpersonal skills, and a valid driver’s license with proof of automobile liability insurance and a positive driving record. Position involves physical demands and is full-time; vaccination for COVID and influenza is required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Zero to one year full-time experience working with individuals who receive services for treatment of a mental health, substance abuse, intellectual disability, or physical health condition
- Ability to provide nurturing attention and care to individuals with disabilities
- Ability to communicate with verbal and nonverbal individuals
- Good interpersonal skills

- Maturity and judgment
- Valid driver’s license
