Job Summary
Direct Support Specialist to assist people in group homes in Newington, CT. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, transportation, organizing activities/community outings, medication administration, coordinating doctors’ appointments, documenting program data, teaching and engaging individuals, implementing routines, participating in decision-making processes, shopping/errands, deescalation and behavior management, teamwork, and professional communication with nurses and supervisors. Requires a High School diploma or equivalent and 3 years of driving experience; training for CPR/FA and MAP; must be free from communicable disease. Offers full-time benefits and state-of-the-art training; location is Newington, CT.
Required Qualifications
- Must have at least a High School Diploma or its equivalent
- Must have at least 3 years driving experience with a valid driver’s license
- Behavioral Management Experience and/or formal training
- Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing
- Will be required to be PMT, CPR, FA and complete DDS Medication Administration Program (MAP)
- Must be free from communicable disease
