Job Summary
Promote healthy living, prevent illness, and teach independent living skills while assisting individuals with disabilities in identifying and communicating their requests. Accompany people to community outings, provide transportation to appointments, and support personal care tasks like bathing and household chores. Document all care provided, administer medication where state law allows, and foster positive relationships within the community through advocacy and resource connection. Maintain confidentiality and protect the privacy of those served.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 18 years of age
- Valid drivers' license
- Ability to maintain good work attendance
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Complete criminal background
- Name checked in the registries (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities)
- Drug testing
- Education verification
- Proof of employment history or references
- Proof of driver's license, driver's insurance, and vehicle
