Job Summary
Support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities at vocational work sites by maintaining consistent engagement, fostering self-advocacy, and encouraging positive social connections. Provide person-centered supports including personal hygiene assistance, medication administration, and transportation to community activities. Teach daily living skills, facilitate participation in groups, and utilize Positive Support Programs to guide interactions while ensuring safe environments. Deliver accurate shift documentation and intervene in physically demanding situations as needed. Requires a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and completion of background checks.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license and auto insurance
- Reliable vehicle
- Nebraska Child/Adult Protective Services Central Registry check
- Criminal background check
- Must be able to intervene in aggressive situations
- Must be able to lift individuals to and from wheelchairs
- Must be able to support a person to and from a shower
- Must be able to use a gait belt in a safe and dignified way
- Must be able to provide transportation for the people we support
- Must be able to administer medication
- Must be able to provide accurate documentation
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be able to create safe environments
- Must be able to maintain consistent engagement with people
- Must be able to support people in understanding and exercising their rights
- Must be able to encourage people to live a fulfilling life as independently as possible through self-advocacy
