Job Summary
Direct Support Professional (DSP) for The Arc of Opportunity supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting. Duties include implementing Individual Support Plans, assisting with activities of daily living (transfers, toileting, hygiene, dressing), promoting dignity and independence, helping access community resources, performing household/maintenance tasks (cleaning, laundry, meal prep, shopping, snow shoveling, groundskeeping), coordinating with Residential Managers, maintaining confidentiality and professional conduct, completing required trainings, and safely transporting individuals with agency vehicles. Strong communication, problem-solving, and crisis management skills are essential, along with a commitment to mission and values. Schedule is Sunday–Wednesday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM (32 hours/week). Salary offers range from $20.40 to $21.42 per hour, with a $3,500 hiring bonus. Requires valid driver’s license, background check, and ability to meet physical requirements; MAP certification impacts rate. Benefits include health, dental, retirement, and paid time off.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Acceptable CORI/Fingerprint background check and driving record
- Personal vehicle available for work-related responsibilities when required
- Ability to meet all physical requirements of the position
- Basic computer literacy skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Preferred: Experience in human services, developmental disabilities, substance abuse, mental health, or related fields
