Job Summary
Direct Support Professional provides direct support to individuals in residential settings, delivering socialization, health maintenance, and activities of daily living. Responsibilities include personal care, housekeeping, transportation, community integration, medication administration (as assigned), and documentation of progress. Maintains confidentiality, supports individuals in exercising rights, ensures safety, and collaborates with families, guardians, and case managers to implement service plans. Requires handling medications (where assigned), accompanying medical appointments, and upholding safety and quality standards in line with organizational policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Six months of experience in human services preferred
- Valid driver’s license in good standing
- Car registration and vehicle insurance if providing transportation
- All state-required training(s) and certification(s) completed in mandated timeframes
- Maintain valid driver’s license, meet all insurance requirements, and be approved by management to be a driver for the company.
Additional Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age
- Drug testing prior to employment for all employees hired after 6/15/2018
- Criminal background checks
- Central Registry checks for Developmental Disabilities and Child Abuse Registry
