Direct Support Professional

Assist consumers with developmental disabilities in skill development across independent living, adaptive behaviors, socialization, recreation, and activities of daily living. Supervise individuals in the community while reinforcing group session skills and ensuring safety. Lead group sessions to facilitate discussions that teach community-use skills. Assess needs of lower functioning or non-verbal consumers through observation to develop valued outcomes. Provide annual and semi-annual progress reports on outcomes and ensure compliance with the ISP and Day Habilitation Plan. Document weekly progress toward individual goals. This role supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living their best life in a safe environment at S:US, a respected NYC disability services organization.
