Job Summary
Advocate for individuals' human, legal, and civil rights while promoting health and safety through wellness initiatives and accident prevention. Encourage self-advocacy and empower individuals in making their own choices by facilitating community engagement, including accompanying them to work, recreational activities, and social events. Teach and support independent living skills, such as household management and personal care, while providing transportation for appointments and errands. Assist with personal care tasks like hygiene, bathing, and dressing, and maintain accurate documentation of provided services. Administer medication in accordance with state laws and connect individuals with community resources for career development and education.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
- Must be able to occasionally pull at least 40 lbs.
- Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop as part of regular job duties.
- Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects, tools, or controls.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from floor level
- Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision
- Must be able to talk and hear
- Must be able to complete criminal background Name check in the registries
- Must be able to complete drug testing
- Must be able to provide Education verification
- Must be able to provide Proof of employment history or references
- Must be able to provide Proof of driver's license, driver's insurance, and vehicle
- Must be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Must be able to maintain accurate records and follow regulatory guidelines
- Must be able to assist with medication administration in accordance with state laws and regulations
- Must be able to uphold ethical standards in all aspects of care
- Must be able to meet all pre-employment screening requirements
