Job Summary
Direct Support Professional in a Respite Care Home provides support to persons served with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, assisting with activities of daily living (ADL/IADL), implementing program plans, transporting clients, planning and preparing meals, facilitating participation in community activities, and maintaining a safe, clean environment. Requires completing required trainings, documenting clearly and professionally, and collaborating with parents/program coordinators. Qualifications include being 18+, having a high school diploma or GED, and strong communication and teamwork skills; 6 months’ related experience preferred; must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a van and assist with mobility tasks. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs are also expected.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or GED required
- 6 months’ experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred
- Possess sound oral and written communication skills as well as decision-making skills
- Must be able to write and document in a clear, concise, and professional manner
- Possess the ability to use Microsoft Office applications including, but not limited to Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to work as a team member
- Driver’s License
