Job Summary
Direct Support Professional in a Residential Group Home provides caring, professional support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include helping individuals work on goals and independence, transporting to activities, administering medications with proper documentation, maintaining a safe and respectful environment, electronically recording daily activities, and obtaining required certifications and trainings (CPR, PMT, Medication Certification). The role emphasizes personal growth, safety, confidentiality, and adherence to policies, with training offered for those new to the field. This is a full-time, third-shift position based in Bristol, CT, within a nonprofit setting.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least age 18
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and reliable transportation
- Abilities to lift at least 25 pounds and transfer ~35 pounds
- CPR, PMT and Medication Certification required or obtainable
- Provide transportation to and from programs and activities
- Administer medications and treatments per guidelines and documentation
- Support individuals with goals and daily living activities
- Record daily activities with confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
- Commitment to safety, dignity, and rights of individuals
