Job Summary
Conduct direct support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, by implementing individualized support plans and Behavior Support Plans. Provide personal care, assist with daily living skills, and support skill development across various settings. Monitor medical conditions, administer medications, and ensure safety during transportation and community activities. Document progress, maintain confidentiality under HIPAA and state laws, and respond to emergencies. Mentor new staff and uphold agency policies while respecting individual rights and privacy.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- Valid driver's license
- Insured vehicle
- Safe driving record
- Ability to pass criminal registry, background checks and other checks deemed necessary
- Ability and willingness to support individuals with challenging behavior and or medical concerns
- Ability to successfully complete and maintain all required training courses, including CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration, Positive Behavioral Support Training, and any additional training mandated by the agency
- Must be able to tolerate tobacco smoke and/or pet dander based on the individual being supported
- Must be able to lift or move items up to 75 lbs
- Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to respond to emergency situations involving potential physical harm to self and others
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred
- Experience working with individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities; prefer 1 year
