Job Summary
Direct Support Professional (Per-Diem) provides direct care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the Queens Region, assisting with daily routines, hygiene, medication administration, community participation, and transportation to appointments. Per Diem shifts include Day Hab WOW, Community Habilitation, Respite Services, and Residential Services with flexible hours and paid training; starting pay $18/hour. Responsibilities include documentation and maintaining billable records, building community relationships, and supporting learning and independence in community-based skills. Must have a HS diploma/GED, valid driver’s license, and pass background checks. Per diem requires a minimum of 2 shifts per month and eligibility for criminal background, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing checks.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
- Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals receiving supports
- Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations
- To remain an active per diem employee, a minimum of 2 shifts per month
- Criminal background check, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing
