Direct Support Professional - Part Time

Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional provides care services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including community integration and consultation to individuals and families. Responsibilities include developing community activity opportunities and ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of participants through proper supervision. Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, and be able to document activities within designated timelines. Training will be provided for certifications such as First Aid and CPR. Candidates should also demonstrate respectful communication skills and the ability to work independently.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Possess valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record, MVD report and reliable transportation
- Ability to prepare required paperwork to support and document activities in the contractually required timelines
- Ability to type and working knowledge/familiarity with computers and electronic clinical record keeping
- Ability to successfully complete certification and trainings for First Aid, CPR, Article 9, Medication, and Prevention/Support, Direct Care Worker and any other required training
- Able to operate independently with minimal oversight
- Demonstrated skills to ensure respectful communication to participants and coworkers
- Must obtain and maintain a fingerprint clearance card and pass a background check along with Central Registry Clearance
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays and a varied schedule each week
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Sign Language
- Prior experience in Habilitation or Rehabilitation
- Two years of experience in a person-centered community integration program assisting persons with developmental and/or psychiatric disabilities
- Two years of experience in habilitation/rehabilitative assistance to persons with psychiatric and/or developmental disabilities
- Very strong interpersonal skills
