Job Summary
Direct Support Professional provides personal support in a residence setting for individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring programs and activities are carried out, teaching independent living skills, applying behavior plans, and promoting safety and well-being. Responsibilities include supervising and training individuals, communicating with program staff, administering medications per physician orders, maintaining records, assisting with transportation and daily living tasks, and maintaining a positive, respectful environment while working a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- Must have a driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to lift, pull, and push adequate weight to assist individuals supported (may be more than 50 pounds)
- Knowledge of routine and emergency medical procedures including CPR
- Administer correct and timely medication per PMOF and MAR
- Attend and participate in in-service training and staff meetings
- Works cooperatively with families, staff, supervisors, and community professionals
