Job Summary
Direct Support Professional provides assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities in residential settings, helping them live as independently as possible. Responsibilities include promoting health, safety, and well-being; advocating for individuals to express wants/needs; integrating them into the community for recreation; light housekeeping; helping plan nutritious meals; administering medications as needed; and participating in regular trainings to enhance skills and knowledge. Must be able to work evenings and maintain a positive role model presence for people with disabilities and other staff.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Valid New York State driver’s license
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Medication certification (as needed for duties)
