Job Summary
Collaborate with supervisors and programmers to develop individualized goals and provide direct support that teaches skills, promotes independence, and encourages community participation. Implement approved behavioral strategies while documenting all interventions and responses accurately in Setworks in compliance with Iowa Code. Provide hands-on daily living assistance, mobility support, and transportation in home and community settings, including medication administration and safety monitoring. Maintain reliable attendance for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM while completing required training and adhering to agency policies. Drive for up to eight hours as needed to transport individuals to activities.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Must be at least 16 years of age (for Supported Community Living settings)
- Must be at least 18 years of age (for Habilitation settings)
- Must have a driver's license
- Must have ability to see objects/persons at a distance
- Must have ability to see close work such as typed or handwritten material
- Must have ability to hear conversations in a quiet and a noisy environment
- Must have ability to determine where a sound is coming from
- Must have ability to hear differences among bells, buzzers, beeps, horns, etc.
- Must have ability to communicate through speech
- Must have ability to drive and transport for service provision as needed
- Must remain awake during working hours
- Must be able to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds
- Must be able to assist in the transfer of individuals to/from wheelchair, chair, bed, toilet, vehicle, etc.
- Must be able to work with difficult emotional and physical behaviors (e.g., seizures, physical aggression, etc.)
- Must have obtained their diploma or the equivalent representing their high school education
