Job Summary
Provide supervision and care to individuals, assisting with daily living skills and administering medications while adhering to safety protocols. Develop treatment objectives, monitor emotional and behavioral status, and document progress against established plans. Build relationships with peers and families to support youth transitions, including transporting them for medical appointments and managing housekeeping duties. Recognize escalating behaviors and apply crisis prevention and intervention strategies, which may involve physical restraints using approved techniques. Maintain daily communication with staff and funders to share relevant concerns. Work a variable schedule including evenings and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Successful completion of Approved Medication Administrative Personnel (AMAP) training within 1 year
- CPR certification
- Unrestricted, valid NYS driver's license for minimum of 1 year with a clean driving record
- Minimum insurance coverage that meets agency standards
- Ability to work a variable scheduling including evenings and weekends
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to carry up to 55 lbs.
- Ability to lift 10-15 lbs. on a daily basis
- Ability to carry 10-15 lbs. on a daily basis
- Manual dexterity including the frequent ability to grasp in both hands and continuous use of fine manipulation skills in both hands
- Ability to change positions as needed
- Ability to recognize and address escalating and dysregulated youth behavior
- Utilization of training provided in behavior management and Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP)
- Ability to utilize physical interventions (holds)
- Ability to physically restrain clients weighing between 50 and 300 lbs.
- Ability to guide clients safely to the floor using Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP) approved techniques
- Ability to complete all required documentation in timely fashion according to established policies and regulations
- Ability to recognize issues and situations that require notification and communication to others
- Ability to meet the highest standard for ethical and professional conduct towards all
