Job Summary

Direct Support Professional I provides direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting under clinical or supervisory staff. Primary responsibilities include personal care and health support (hygiene, grooming, toileting, medication administration per AMAP, vital signs, medical appointments), meal preparation and safe food handling, maintaining a safe and organized living environment, promoting independence and community integration through skill-building and supports, supporting communication, money management, and social/leisure activities, documenting progress, participating in program planning and trainings, applying approved behavior management techniques, responding to emergencies, and performing related duties. Requires appropriate certifications (AMAP, SCIP-R, CPR/First Aid), a HS diploma or GED, Direct Support Professional certificate, valid NYS driver’s license (where applicable), and work eligibility to work in the US. The role is onsite in Brooklyn, NY, with hours Monday–Friday, 7am–3:30pm, across a 40-hour workweek, and offers comprehensive benefits and professional development opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required;
  • Direct Support Professional (DSP) Certificate from an accredited public or private organization
  • Experience providing direct care to adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities preferred
  • AMAP Certification – current or able to obtain within six (6) months of hire
  • SCIP‐R Certification – current or able to obtain within six (6) months of hire
  • CPR and First Aid Certification – current or able to obtain within six (6) months of hire
  • Valid New York State Driver’s License with a clean driving record (may be required based on shift/location)
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Residential setting (onsite). Specific location and schedule vary by program.
