Job Summary
Direct Support Professional I provides direct care and support to adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities in a residential setting. Responsibilities include personal care and health support (hygiene, grooming, toileting, medication administration per AMAP, vital signs, medical appointments), meal preparation and safe food handling, maintaining a safe and clean living environment, promoting independence through skill-building and community integration, encouraging positive interpersonal relationships and communication, documenting progress, participating in program planning and staff training, applying approved behavior management techniques, and responding to emergencies. Requires a high school diploma or GED, DSP certificate, AMAP/SCIP-R/CPR/First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within six months, and a NYS driver’s license (may be required depending on shift/location). On-site residential role with Tuesday-Saturday evening schedule totaling 40 hours per week. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Location is Brooklyn, NY, onsite.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- DSP Certificate from an accredited organization
- AMAP Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- SCIP-R Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Valid NYS Driver's License (may be required based on shift/location)
- Work Authorization in United States
- Residential setting experience preferred
