Job Summary

Support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in daily living activities, including personal care, grooming, continence care, and mobility transfers using approved techniques. Monitor health and wellness by documenting vital signs, administering medications per nursing directives, and following individualized care plans. Promote community inclusion by transporting individuals to appointments and recreational activities, while providing nutrition support and mealtime assistance. Maintain compliance by accurately documenting activities, incidents, and progress in the electronic health record, and respond to emergencies using established safety protocols and behavioral support strategies. Work Tuesday through Saturday from 1pm to 11pm, earning $20.03/hour as a union position. Join Oak Hill, Connecticut's largest private provider of services for people with disabilities, where you will receive paid training and certification within 90 days.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to transport individuals in agency vehicles
  • Ability to successfully complete required background checks, fingerprinting, and pre-employment health screenings
  • Ability to complete required training programs and maintain necessary certifications
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, healthy, and professional work environment in accordance with Oak Hill policies
  • Commitment to continuity of care, including an occasional need to stay beyond a scheduled shift until coverage is in place

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), caregiver, home health aide, behavioral health technician, or in a related human services role
  • Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
