Job Summary
Direct Support Professional provides community and support services for disabled and elderly persons, including dementia patients, through activities such as coaching in Supported Employment, Pre-Vocational Training, and Community inclusion services. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living and community integration, promoting independence and social skills, transporting clients to activities and appointments, providing basic tech and communication skills training, offering job coaching when needed, and maintaining client confidentiality per HIPAA. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, 21+ years old, a valid NJ driver’s license with adequate vehicle insurance, a clean driving record, CPR and First Aid certification, and 1-2 years of relevant experience; flexible schedule and compliance with state regulations are also required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance in NJ with own reliable vehicle
- 4 points or less driving record
- Pass state and federal background checks
- First Aid and CPR certification
- 1-2 years of experience helping people with special abilities
- Must be over 21 years of age
