Job Summary
Direct Support Professionals needed in Anne Arundel County to provide direct support and loving care for adults with developmental disabilities in residential and community settings. Responsibilities include teaching independent living skills, planning community-based activities, implementing individual program plans, helping individuals participate in community life, fostering friendships, promoting rights, and supporting participation in employment, education, social, and recreational activities. Requires driving, effective communication, problem-solving, and a positive, person-centered approach.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- A high school diploma or GED required
- Must have a current driver’s license with no more than 5 points
- Must display a genuine interest in the well-being of adults with developmental disabilities
- Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisor, peers, individuals, and families
- Must demonstrate the ability to resolve problems and conflict effectively
- Must display a positive attitude when interacting with others
- Must be able to teach skills, provide support, and build on each individual's strengths and capabilities
