Job Summary
Support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by maintaining consistent engagement, fostering independence through self-advocacy, and providing person-centered support across home and community settings. Deliver daily activities including personal hygiene assistance, medication administration, transportation, and skill-building while utilizing Positive Support Programs to guide interactions. Ensure safe environments by intervening in aggressive situations when necessary and provide accurate shift documentation. Work independently during scheduled shifts from 7am to 5pm Monday through Friday, with evening, overnight, and weekend options available. Requires a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and completion of background checks.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license and auto insurance
- Must be able to lift individuals to and from wheelchairs
- Must be able to intervene in aggressive situations
- Must be able to support a person to and from a shower
- Must be able to use a gait belt in a safe and dignified way
- Must be able to provide transportation for the people we support
- Must be able to administer medication
- Must be able to provide accurate documentation
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be able to create safe environments
- Must be able to maintain consistent engagement with the people you are supporting
- Must be able to support people in understanding and exercising their rights
- Must be able to encourage people to live a fulfilling life as independently as possible through self-advocacy
- Must be able to provide the best person-centered supports to meet people's needs throughout their lives
- Must be able to support and encourage positive interactions
- Must be able to improve social connections and relationships
- Must be able to support and encourage participation in groups or organizations in line with a person's personal interests to meet recreational and social needs
- Must be able to utilize Positive Support Programs to guide daily interactions
- Must be able to support a person with personal hygiene and medical-related needs
- Must be able to provide transportation for those you are supporting
- Must be able to teach skills to improve a person's life
- Must be able to provide documentation at the end of each shift
- Must be able to work Monday through Friday: 7am-5pm
- Must be able to work evenings: 3pm-10pm
- Must be able to work overnights: 10pm-8:30am
- Must be able to work days Sat/Sun: 8am-3pm
- Must successfully complete and pass all checks including: Nebraska Child/Adult Protective Services Central Registry check
- Must successfully complete and pass all checks including: Criminal background check
