Job Summary
Assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in daily living skills, including bathing, dressing, grooming, meals, and medication reminders. Monitor health, follow care plans, and respond to emergencies while implementing behavior support plans to de-escalate challenging situations. Encourage independence, life skills development, and personal choice-making through community outings, appointments, and social activities. Maintain accurate documentation of daily activities, progress, and incidents, and communicate with supervisors, healthcare staff, and family members. Ensure safety and promote self-advocacy within a person-centered framework.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be passionate about working with adults with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities
- Demonstrated patience, compassion, and professionalism
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Must be willing to obtain or already possess CPR, First Aid, SCIP, and AMAP certifications
- Must become AMAP certified within one year
