Job Summary
Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes, assisting with daily living activities, meal preparation, and household support. Implement and document individualized service plans while ensuring client health, safety, and well-being. Administer medications if certified and trained, and transport individuals as needed using a valid New Jersey driver's license. Support clients in community engagement and social activities, communicating effectively with families and team members. Cooperate fully with licensee and Department of Human Services staff during inspections or inquiries. Maintain accurate documentation to ensure compliance with all DDD regulations. Submit to criminal background checks, drug testing, and registry exclusions prior to employment.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read and write English
- Compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum age of 18
- Valid New Jersey driver's license
- Submit to a criminal background check and be determined not disqualified by the Department of Human Services
- Agree to have name checked against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
- Submit to drug testing prior to employment, and agree to ongoing random and for-cause drug testing
- Complete an application to have name checked against the Child Abuse Registry Information (CARI)
- Consent to exclusionary checks as per Appendix I
