Job Summary
Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes, assisting with daily living activities, meal preparation, and household support. Implement and document individualized service plans while ensuring client health, safety, and well-being. Administer medications if certified and trained, and support clients in community engagement and social activities. Transport individuals as needed with a valid driver's license. Cooperate fully with licensee and Department of Human Services staff during inspections and inquiries, maintaining accurate documentation to ensure compliance with all regulations. Submit to criminal background checks, drug testing, and registry exclusions before and during employment.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read and write English
- Compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum age of 18
- Valid New Jersey driver's license
- Certification and training to administer medications
- Criminal background check clearance
- Name check clearance against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
- Drug testing clearance
- Consent to exclusionary checks as per Appendix I
