Job Summary
Direct Support Professional (DSP) for IDD providing direct care and support to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and meal preparation; promoting independence and helping individuals achieve personal goals; facilitating community outings, recreational activities, and social engagement; monitoring and documenting client behaviors and changes in condition; maintaining a safe, respectful environment; following individualized service plans and behavioral support plans; and maintaining accurate documentation and reports in compliance with facility policies and state regulations. The role requires effective communication with supervisors, healthcare providers, family members, and team members, plus reliable transportation and ability to drive to the assigned facility.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience working as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), Caregiver, Residential Aide, or in a related IDD setting
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) or CPR Certification
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass required background checks and screenings
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential, community, or healthcare settings
- Knowledge of person-centered care and behavioral support techniques
