Job Summary
Day Support Specialist provides direct support to individuals with disabilities in community settings, facilitates participation in community activities, conducts data collection under ISP plans, monitors and reports on individuals’ needs, ensures health and safety, assists with transportation, and participates in agency events and trainings. Requires ability to gain working knowledge of SJCS policies, communicate with staff and the public, and support individuals to live their best life in inclusive communities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Two or more years’ experience working with people with disabilities preferred
- Valid state-issued driver’s license with current driving record in good standing
- Ability to obtain health certificate as required by SJCS or funding authority
- Criminal background and record checks per SJCS and funding authority requirements
- Ability to lift, position, and transfer individuals with disabilities
- Ability to operate computer systems and office machines
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse backgrounds
- Ability to model and teach social and behavioral skills
