Job Summary
Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides person-centered care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in clients’ homes and in the community. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, implementing individualized goals from the ISP, fostering independence, supporting community engagement, accompanying clients on outings, providing safe transportation using own vehicle, ensuring safety in home and community, and maintaining accurate documentation and reporting. Requires compassionate, reliable individuals with strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work weekends, a valid driver’s license and insurance, smartphone for documentation, and the ability to pass a DHS background check. The role offers caregiver training, benefits, and a supportive team environment.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Prior experience as a DSP or in a similar caregiving/support role
- Comfortable supporting individuals with high behavioral needs
- Available to work weekends (required)
- Own reliable transportation for use in transporting clients
- Valid Driver’s License and current auto insurance (minimum 100k/300k liability coverage)
- Smartphone with internet access for documentation
- Ability to pass a DHS criminal background check
- Must be able to assist with lifting, bending, walking and other physical aspects of caregiving
