Direct Support Professional

Job Summary
Provide professional direct support, supervision, and skill training to individuals with developmental disabilities, covering personal hygiene, meal planning, medication administration, and community inclusion. Assist with medical appointments, administer prescribed medications and first aid, and communicate effectively with family members while promoting self-advocacy. Complete daily documentation, participate in support team and interdisciplinary meetings, and assist the Community Living Coordinator in meeting member needs and supported community living regulations. Maintain a valid Iowa driver's license for transportation in agency-owned vehicles and attend mandatory training.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED
- Valid Iowa driver's license
- Proof of insurance coverage
- Ability to provide transportation in Discovery Living owned vehicles
- Ability to be insurable through the agency insurance carrier
- Must be able to understand, access and utilize company computer hardware, software and systems
- Must be dependable
- Must be enthusiastic about performing the job
- Must give attention to their personal appearance
- Must reflect a positive image in the community
- Must work diligently toward total community inclusion
- Must be flexible
- Must be willing to work with the support team
- Must be able to adjust to, and manage change
