Job Summary
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide direct care services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Responsibilities include assisting with daily living skills, personal care, medical needs, and community integration. DSPs ensure the health, safety, and well-being of those supported, engage in crisis intervention, and complete necessary documentation. The ideal candidates will demonstrate good communication skills, compassion, and initiative, with training available in critical areas such as CPR/First Aid.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Valid NYS Driver’s License required
- Tuberculosis test and background check mandatory
Desired Qualifications
- Work or life experience in the I/DD field is a plus, but not mandatory (for DSP 1 positions)
- At least 2 years’ work experience in the I/DD field for DSP 2 positions
- Good written and verbal communication
- Basic computer knowledge
- Interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Willing to take initiative
