Job Summary
Assist residents with personal hygienic needs including washing, toileting, feeding, and showering to ensure good personal hygiene and independence. Implement resident-specific programs by following goal book outlines and adhere to prescribed diets by ensuring correct portions are dispensed. Provide ongoing supervision at all times through close physical proximity and utilize safety techniques to protect residents from injury. Implement recreational activities such as arts and crafts, board games, and sports to meet residents' recreational needs. Serve as a member of the inter-disciplinary team by attending meetings to discuss progress and gather resident information. Purchase clothing, grooming, and personal items to meet daily living needs. If AMAP certified, administer medication and medical procedures following prescriptions and doctors' orders. Train new employees by covering training manuals and demonstrating direct care skills. Accompany residents to medical appointments when applicable. Perform additional duties as requested by the supervisor.
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
- six (6) months experience working with DDI population preferred
- Ability to understand written and oral directives/information
