Job Summary
Conduct hourly rounds, check in guests, and enforce shelter rules while maintaining clean living spaces and reporting incidents. Launder linens, assist with meal preparation, and complete maintenance work orders as needed. Document shift activities, file client information, and respond to inquiries promptly. Perform exit walk-throughs and ensure compliance with safety regulations and program policies. Maintain inventory of supplies and keys. This hands-on role supports men and women facing homelessness at St. Joseph's House emergency shelter program in Hyannis, MA.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services
- 1-2 years of shelter experience
- Homelessness services, mental health, trauma, or substance use support
- Excellent organizational, communication, and assessment skills
- Strong leadership abilities with a heart for service
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Reliable, insured vehicle
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work and promote a flexible schedule based on programmatic coverage, weekends, holidays, and program emergencies
