Job Summary
Direct Support Professional – Residential provides hands-on care and supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to lead meaningful, independent lives. Core duties include assisting with daily living activities (hygiene, grooming, dressing, meals, household tasks), promoting independence and social skills, ensuring health and safety (including medication administration if certified), implementing and documenting progress on individualized service plans, facilitating community participation, transporting using agency vehicles, and maintaining professional communication with individuals, families, and colleagues. The role requires empathy, reliability, adherence to safety protocols, and engagement in ongoing trainings and certifications.
Required Qualifications
- Must meet Vehicle Operator requirements (except overnight/relief shifts)
- First Aid/CPR, SCIP-R, and Medication Administration certification (or ability to obtain)
- Must pass all required background checks and clearances (e.g., SCR, Fingerprinting, SEL, MHL)
- No prior experience required (entry-level suitable)
- Ability to follow individualized plans and safety protocols
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer literacy for documentation in the Electronic Health Record
