Job Summary
Direct Support Professional for Awakenings Program in Hagerstown, MD. Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM. On-site caregiving role providing daily personal hygiene support, administering medications, facilitating community outings, and maintaining a safe, structured environment for adults with IDD, including those with aggression or self-injurious behaviors. Requires HS diploma or GED, 18+, valid Maryland driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving experience and a clean record, and 2+ years of direct experience with IDD and challenging behaviors. Paid training and DSP certification bonuses available; benefits include health/dental, life insurance, retirement plan, PTO and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid U.S. driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving experience and a clean driving record
- Minimum of 2 years of direct experience supporting individuals with IDD who exhibit behavioral challenges
- Experience within a day program setting strongly preferred
- Must attend paid new hire training (Mon-Fri 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM for the first 3 weeks and 2 days)
- Must pass pre-employment requirements including a reading/math assessment, background check, drug screen, and physical/ergonomic screening
