Job Summary
Build trusting relationships with adolescents in a residential treatment setting by mentoring youth through daily challenges and promoting positive decision-making. Support community integration by accompanying adolescents to school, medical appointments, and family visits while teaching essential life skills like cooking and personal responsibility. Use positive reinforcement and crisis deescalation techniques to help adolescents develop independence, confidence, and healthy social skills. Participate in recreational activities and serve as a positive role model. Candidates must work weekends, hold a valid driver's license, and maintain certifications in CPR, First Aid, and mandated trainings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- High School Diploma/GED
- three (3) years of experience working with children or adolescents
- Valid driver's license
- good driving record
- Ability to work with adolescents in a residential treatment setting
- Strong communication skills

- Passion for making a positive impact in the lives of youth
- Ability to frequently lift a minimum of fifty pounds (50lbs)
- CPR Certification
- First Aid Certification
- Crisis Management certification
- Clearance from the state of N.J. Department of Human Services Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities (N.J.A.C. 10:44D)
- Must be cleared for employment under the Criminal History Background Checks (CHRI)
- Clearance from the Child Abuse Registry Check (CARI)
- Ability to successfully complete any other training(s) as assigned or deemed necessary by Aurora Staffing, DDD/DCF, and/or the specific program element
- Must pass a drug screen pre-employment
- Ability to participate in random drug screens as assigned
- Weekend availability
- Ability to work at least one weekend shift each week
