Job Summary
Build trusting relationships and meaningful connections with adolescents while mentoring youth through daily challenges. Support community integration by accompanying adolescents to school activities, shopping, medical appointments, and family visits. Teach essential life skills including cooking, laundry, and personal responsibility using positive reinforcement and crisis deescalation techniques. Serve as a positive role model to help adolescents develop independence, confidence, and healthy social skills. Participate in recreational activities and foster a supportive team environment. Requires weekend availability, a valid driver's license, and completion of mandated trainings including CPR, First Aid, and Crisis Management.
Required Qualifications
- Weekend availability
- Ability to work at least one weekend shift each week
- Bachelor's Degree
- High School Diploma/GED
- Three (3) years of experience working with children or adolescents
- Valid driver's license
- Good driving record
- Ability to work with adolescents in a residential treatment setting
- Strong communication skills
- Teamwork skills
- Problem-solving skills
- Passion for making a positive impact in the lives of youth
- Ability to frequently lift a minimum of fifty pounds (50lbs)
- CPR Certification
- First Aid Certification
- Nurtured Heart Training
- Safe Crisis Management Training
- Ukeru Training
- Cleared for employment under the Criminal History Background Checks (CHRI)
- Clearance from the state of N.J. Department of Human Services Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities (N.J.A.C. 10:44D)
- Ability to successfully complete any other training(s) as assigned or deemed necessary by Aurora Staffing, DDD/DCF, and/or the specific program element
- Must pass a drug screen pre-employment
- Participation in random drug screens as assigned
- Cleared through the Child Abuse Registry Check (CARI)
