Job Summary

Build trusting relationships with adolescents in a residential treatment setting by mentoring youth through daily challenges and promoting positive decision-making. Support community integration by accompanying adolescents to school activities, shopping, medical appointments, and family visits. Teach essential life skills including cooking, laundry, and personal responsibility while using crisis de-escalation techniques to help adolescents succeed. Participate in recreational activities and serve as a positive role model to help youth develop independence, confidence, and healthy social skills. Weekend availability is required, including at least one weekend shift weekly. Candidates must hold a valid driver's license and pass mandated trainings such as CPR, First Aid, and Safe Crisis Management.

Required Qualifications

  • Weekend availability
  • Ability to work at least one weekend shift each week
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Three (3) years of experience working with children or adolescents
  • Valid driver's license
  • Good driving record
  • Ability to work with adolescents in a residential treatment setting
  • Strong communication skills
  • Teamwork skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Passion for making a positive impact in the lives of youth
  • Ability to frequently lift a minimum of fifty pounds (50lbs)
  • Certification in Crisis Management
  • CPR certification
  • First Aid certification
  • Ability to operate vehicles in accordance with applicable laws, insurance company requirements and Aurora Staffing Policies
  • Cleared for employment under the Criminal History Background Checks (CHRI)
  • Clearance from the state of N.J. Department of Human Services Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities (N.J.A.C. 10:44D)
  • Ability to successfully complete any other training(s) as assigned or deemed necessary by Aurora Staffing, DDD/DCF, and/or the specific program element
  • Pass a drug screen pre-employment
  • Participate in random drug screens as assigned
  • Cleared through the Child Abuse Registry Check (CARI)
