Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in their homes and communities, focusing on community inclusion and social integration. Key responsibilities include assisting participants in achieving their goals, documenting progress, and providing advocacy. The DSP must complete required documentation, assist with personal care and home support tasks, and maintain thorough communication with team members and supervisors. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with effective communication skills and basic knowledge of MS Office Suite and Therap. Previous experience is beneficial but a combination of education and experience may fulfill qualification criteria.
Required Qualifications
- Effective communication skills to provide feedback to all levels of management.
- Experience and basic understanding of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Therap.
- Ability to effectively work both independently and with the Coordinator Team and the Health Advocate Professional.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse economic, ethnic and social backgrounds.
- Ability to prioritize work and or to ask for support in doing so from Supervisors and Coordinator.
- A combination of education, experience and measurable performance which demonstrates the capability to perform the duties of this position.
