Job Summary
Direct Support Professionals provide hands-on support, supervision, and companionship to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential, day, or community-based settings. Responsibilities include direct care and supervision per ISPs, assistance with ADLs, medication administration (training provided), community integration, accurate documentation of activities and progress, promoting independence and dignity, responding to crises with de-escalation, maintaining a safe environment, and ensuring health and safety. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 18+ years old, valid driver’s license (preferred), background check and drug screening, CPR/First Aid or willingness to obtain, and strong communication and teamwork skills.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (preferred)
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in a caregiving role preferred, but not required—training provided
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
