Job Summary
Provide daily assistance to individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities in residential settings, supporting participants with developmental goals like budgeting, exercise, and nutrition. Motivate clients to engage in community activities and enjoy their favorite hobbies while accompanying them to appointments and outings. Conduct weekly food inventories, maintain care records, and document provided services. Transport consumers for errands and use a personal vehicle as needed. Assist clients with mobility, physical activities, and moderate to heavy lifting. Communicate effectively with families, coworkers, and patients while organizing work and schedules. Maintain a sympathetic attitude toward care and ensure clients follow established person-centered service plans.
Required Qualifications
- One (1) year experience
- Current Driver License, and vehicle insurance
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to pass a TB Skin Test & Drug screen
- Must be able to pass a criminal history check
- Ability to participate in physical activities
- Ability to do extensive bending, lifting and standing on an as required basis
- Ability to work for an extended period of time while standing and being involved in physical activity as required
- Ability to assist client with community/ socialization activities
- Assist patients with mobility and physical activities
- Have the ability to motivate others in a positive manner
- Take the initiative to help participants be part of the community and enjoy their favorite activities
- Have the ability to read and write
- Have the ability to understand and carry out instructions
- Have a sympathetic attitude toward the care of the the disabled
- Have the ability to communicate effectively with patients, with their families and with co-workers
- Have the ability to organize work and schedule effectively
- Moderate to heavy lifting on occasions
Desired Qualifications
- Current CPR certification ( preferred)
- Certified Nurse Aid or Home Health Aid (preferred)
- Two (2) year working with development disability (preferred)
