Job Summary
Direct Support Professional provides personal care and skill-building support to adults with disabilities in Kerr's adult group homes. Responsibilities include helping with medications, cooking, dressing, personal hygiene, and cleaning; following Behavior Support Plans; performing nursing tasks as trained; monitoring health indicators (vital signs, weight, sleep, mood); assisting with community outings and home visits; transporting clients via licensed driver duties; and communicating professionally with family, medical professionals, and other stakeholders. The role involves supporting individuals in living self-determined lives within the community, flexible coverage across group homes, and collaborating to create a positive, inclusive environment.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years old
- Ability to pass a background check
- Licensed driver with at least two years' driving experience
- Knows basic cooking skills
- Knows basic cleaning skills
- Ability to lift, push and pull 50 pounds
- Willing to be flexible and learn new skills
- Preference for applicants who can work at least one weekend day
