Job Summary
Train participants in the day habilitation program on life, social, and vocational skills. Accompany individuals to volunteer assignments and drive them to appointments and community activities while ensuring safety. Keep participants on task, redirect focus, and build rapport to encourage their development. Work with staff throughout Avondale House to meet each participant's needs in the day program. Requires a valid driver's license, current CPR certification, and ability to physically restrain clients if necessary.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience working with intellectually disabled individuals
- Patient, authoritative personality
- Current CPR Certification
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to implement CPI, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
- Lifting/Moving up to 50 lbs
- Lifting moving up to 100 plus lbs with assistance
- Ability to stand on your feet for 2-3 hours at a time
- Stooping, kneeling, pushing and pulling
- Must be capable of physically restraining clients if necessary
- Must be able to handle situations that may be stressful at times
- Background Check
