Job Summary
Direct Support Professional role in a nonprofit residential setting supporting adults with developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include hands-on personal care, assisting with daily living skills (personal care, grooming, cooking, cleaning), light housekeeping, implementing clinical, educational and vocational programs, observing and recording data for behavioral support plans, and contributing to a therapeutic community. Positions are full-time or part-time with schedules that commonly include 2nd shift, overnights, and weekends. Training is provided; benefits include health, dental, vision, 403b with match, generous PTO, holidays off, tuition reimbursement, and potential for an online Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to provide care, effective communication, and a valid driver’s license; MAP Certification and behavior-management experience are noted as beneficial. This role emphasizes ABA/PSB approaches and community integration for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and related developmental disabilities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required
- Experience with behavior management preferred (but not necessary)
- Ability and willingness to provide hands-on personal care to adults with developmental disabilities
- Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form with co-workers and supported individuals
- Must be able to read fluently
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse team
