Job Summary
Direct Support Professional responsible for delivering hands-on care, advocacy, and community integration for individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting), meal preparation and household tasks, administering medications as directed, aiding mobility and safety, supporting behavioral and emotional needs, planning and participating in recreational and educational activities, advocating for clients’ needs and rights, and maintaining accurate documentation (daily notes, progress reports, incident reports) in electronic systems. Collaboration with healthcare providers and therapists to ensure holistic care, along with promoting independence and community engagement, are key elements of the role.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalency diploma
- New York State Driver’s License with 2 years of driving experience
- Experience working with adults with behavioral health or other disabilities preferred
