Job Summary
Direct Support Professional 1 - Residential provides comprehensive support to residents, including writing or assisting in writing reports, participating in team planning and case reviews, developing and maintaining ADL skills, modeling appropriate behavior, assisting with meals and health services, and transporting residents as needed. Responsibilities include documenting progress, maintaining records, facilitating activities, assisting with medication administration after training, providing lift and transfer assistance, coordinating access to community services, representing the agency in the community, maintaining safety and program policies, and participating in required staff trainings. The role requires interpersonal skills, teamwork, flexibility, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work with individuals at varying functioning levels; familiarity with computer programs and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks is expected. The position is full-time with options for part-time or per diem, located in Binghamton, NY.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Some experience in human service field
- Ability to work with team approach
- Effective written and observational skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to accommodate flexible work schedule
- Familiar with computer programs (e.g. Work, Excel)
- Ability to climb stairs, bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach and lift items weighing 40 lbs.
- Ability to legally operate a vehicle in NY State
