Job Summary
Provide personal care, health support, and nutrition assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. Maintain a safe, clean environment and promote independence through skill-building, recreation, and transportation. Observe, document progress, and apply behavior management techniques while responding to emergencies under supervision. This Floater/On-Call position requires evening and weekend availability for a minimum of 24 hours per week with an hourly rate of $19.81. Candidates must hold a valid New York State driver's license, SCIP-R, and AMAP certifications, along with current CPR and First Aid training.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid New York State Driver's License with a clean driving record
- SCIP-R Certification
- AMAP Certification
- CPR and First Aid Certification (current or able to obtain within six (6) months of hire)
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Residential setting (onsite)
- Must have evening availability (3pm-11:30pm)
- Must have weekend availability (Sat-Sun)
- Minimum 24 hours/week
- Knowledge of OPWDD policies and applicable state and federal regulations
- Understanding of active treatment and habilitation principles
- Ability to work independently, manage challenging situations calmly, and operate a motor vehicle when required
- Ability to assist individuals with mobility and personal care
- Ability to respond to behavioral and emergency situations
Desired Qualifications
- Direct Support Professional (DSP) Certificate from an accredited public or private organization
- Experience providing direct care to adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities
