Job Summary

Provide personal care and health support, including hygiene, grooming, toileting, medication administration, vital signs, and medical appointments for individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. Support nutrition and mealtime activities, maintain a safe and organized environment through housekeeping and fire safety, and promote independence via skill-building, recreation, and transportation. Encourage positive relationships, communication, and leisure activities while observing, documenting progress, and participating in team meetings. Apply approved behavior management techniques and respond to emergencies under clinical supervision. This floater/on-call role requires morning, overnight, and weekend availability with a minimum 24-hour weekly schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid New York State Driver's License with a clean driving record
  • SCIP-R Certification
  • AMAP Certification
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (current or able to obtain within six (6) months of hire)
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Morning and overnight availability (11pm-7:30am and 7:30am-3:30pm)
  • Weekend availability (Sat-Sun)
  • Minimum 24 hours/week
  • Residential setting (onsite)
  • Knowledge of OPWDD policies and applicable state and federal regulations
  • Understanding of active treatment and habilitation principles
  • Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage challenging situations calmly, and operate a motor vehicle when required
  • Ability to assist individuals with mobility and personal care
  • Ability to respond to behavioral and emergency situations

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience providing direct care to adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities
