Job Summary

Provide personal care, health support, and medication administration to adults with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. Support nutrition, meal preparation, and social dining skills while maintaining a safe, clean environment and promoting independence through recreation and community integration. Observe progress, document care, and apply behavior management techniques under clinical supervision. This floater/on-call role requires morning and evening availability, weekend coverage, and a minimum of 24 hours per week. Candidates must hold a DSP certificate and obtain AMAP, SCIP-R, and CPR certifications within six months.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Direct Support Professional (DSP) Certificate from an accredited public or private organization
  • AMAP Certification – current or able to obtain within six (6) months of hire
  • SCIP‐R Certification – current or able to obtain within six (6) months of hire
  • CPR and First Aid Certification – current or able to obtain within six (6) months of hire
  • Valid New York State Driver's License with a clean driving record
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Residential setting (onsite)
  • Morning and evening availability ({7am-3:30pm} & {3pm-11:30pm})
  • Weekend availability (Sat-Sun)
  • Minimum 24 hours/week
  • Knowledge of OPWDD policies and applicable state and federal regulations
  • Understanding of active treatment and habilitation principles
  • Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage challenging situations calmly, and operate a motor vehicle when required
  • Ability to assist individuals with mobility and personal care
  • Ability to respond to behavioral and emergency situations

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience providing direct care to adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities
